Silly Season

Those who know me well in real life would know that I can be described as somewhat of a “party girl”. This tends to surprise people, since being quiet and introverted aren’t typically party girl characteristics. I’ve come to love a good party, though, and in my (completely biased) opinion, I think you should too.

Since it is now December, I would like to officially encourage everyone to get a little bit silly. ‘Tis the season to drink a little bit too much at your work Christmas party!

In all seriousness, though, December is the peak of all annual celebration. It’s a time of togetherness and love and an opportunity to show people that we care about them. It’s full of farewells for your favourite friends, Christmas dos with family (if you celebrate), summer nights out in uni/school/work holidays and the celebration of the end of one year and the start of another (hopefully better) one. The December social calendar is pretty packed.

In a season where there’s so much else going on, I think it’s okay to pause the hustle for a little while.

My December will include drinking cocktails by the pool on a my sister’s hen’s weekend, going out dancing with my girls, bonding with my coworkers over alcohol and putt-putt golf and watching the cricket with my family. Hopefully there will be some of my Dad’s vanilla slice, too.

None of this will directly progress my career, health or finances and I’m totally okay with that. Good things aren’t always quantifiable or goal-oriented or noteworthy, sometimes, they’re just good.

Have a drink (if you wish), eat good food and chat and chat and chat with the people that make you feel loved. Have a dance and a laugh and stop worrying for a second. Get silly and I’m sure it won’t make the world stop spinning. You’ll be okay. Now, go have some fun.

xx Rose
